LLP Form No. 4: Complete Guide to Notice of Changes in Partners/Designated Partners
LLP Form No. 4 is the web form used by an LLP to notify the Registrar of Companies (RoC) of the appointment or cessation of a Designated Partner or Partner, changes in a partner’s particulars, and the consent to become a Partner/Designated Partner.
Where a person becomes or ceases to be a Designated Partner or Partner, a notice must be filed with the Registrar within 30 days from the date of becoming or ceasing. Where there is any change in the particulars of a Partner, a notice must similarly be filed within 30 days of the change.
Who Should File LLP Form No. 4 / When is it Filed
Every LLP experiencing an appointment or cessation of a Designated Partner or Partner, or a change in a partner’s particulars (name, address, designation, etc.), must file LLP Form No. 4 within 30 days of the relevant event.
Important Checkpoints Before Filing
- Applicant must be registered on the MCA portal before filing
- The processing mode depends on whether a change in business activity is also intimated via Form 3 (see Processing Mode below)
Step-by-Step Filing Process
- Access the MCA portal and login with valid credentials
- Access LLP Form No. 4
- Select the applicable event: appointment, cessation, change in particulars, or consent to become a Partner/Designated Partner
- Fill up the application and attach supporting documents
- Submit the webform and note the SRN
- Affix the DSC
- Upload the DSC-affixed PDF on MCA portal
- Pay Fees

Processing Mode
LLP Form No. 4 is processed under a Conditional-STP scheme:
- If filed independently, the form is processed in STP mode
- If filed with the ‘Change in business activity’ checkbox (field 17 of Form 3) selected — alone or combined with any other purpose — the form is processed in Non-STP mode
- If filed without selecting the ‘Change in business activity’ checkbox, the form is processed in STP mode
