LLP Form No. 25: Complete Guide to Name Reservation/Renewal by a Foreign LLP or Foreign Company
LLP Form No. 25 is the web form through which a Foreign Limited Liability Partnership (FLLP) or Foreign Company applies to the Registrar of Companies (RoC) for reservation or renewal of reservation of its name.
An FLLP/Foreign Company may reserve its existing name — the name by which it is registered in its country of regulation or incorporation — on payment of the requisite fee. Such reservation is valid for three years and may be renewed on a fresh application with payment of fee.
Who Should File LLP Form No. 25 / When is it Filed
Any Foreign LLP or Foreign Company wishing to reserve its existing name in India, or renew an existing reservation before it lapses, must file LLP Form No. 25. Renewal applications must be filed before the expiry of the 3-year reservation period, extending the reservation for a further 3 years.
Important Checkpoints Before Filing
- Applicant must be registered as a Business User on the MCA portal before filing
- A name reservation is valid for 3 years; renewal applications must be filed before expiry
- The DSC attached must be registered on the MCA portal against the DIN/DPIN/PAN provided, and must be valid, non-expired, and non-revoked
- For renewal applications, the SRN of the previously filed Form 25 (for reservation of name) must be valid and approved
- On resubmission, the application remains available in the application history, and T+30 days (T being the date marked ‘Resubmission Required’) must not have elapsed
Step-by-Step Filing Process
- Access the MCA portal and login with valid credentials
- Access LLP Form No. 25
- Select the purpose: reservation of name, or renewal of an existing reservation (quoting the earlier Form 25 SRN)
- Fill up the application
- Submit the webform and note the SRN
- Affix the DSC
- Upload the DSC-affixed PDF on MCA portal
- Pay Fees

- Digitally signed by an authorised signatory, using a valid, non-expired, non-revoked DSC
