Form DIR-3 KYC (Web): Complete Guide to Verification of Director's KYC Details on MCA Portal
Form DIR-3 KYC (Web) is the annual web-based verification service used by a Director Identification Number (DIN) holder to confirm and validate the KYC details already existing in the MCA21 database. It is governed by Rule 12A of the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014.
Verification only, not update: DIR-3 KYC (Web) is purely a medium to confirm existing KYC details via OTP — it does not allow any change of information. If any detail (mobile number, email, address, PAN, etc.) needs to be updated, the DIN holder must instead file the eForm DIR-3-KYC.
Who Should File DIR-3 KYC (Web)
Every individual holding a DIN as on 31st March of a financial year must file DIR-3 KYC (Web) — or eForm DIR-3-KYC if updating details — for that financial year, on or before 30th September of the immediately following financial year.
DIR-3 KYC (Web) specifically applies where:
- The DIN status is ‘Approved’, ‘Disqualified’, or ‘Deactivated’ (due to non-filing of DIR-3 KYC), and
- At least one eForm DIR-3-KYC has previously been filed against the DIN, and
- No details require updating (Web form only re-confirms existing data)
Important Checkpoints Before Filing
- Applicant must be registered as a Business/Registered User on the MCA portal
- A valid mobile number and email ID must already be registered on the MCA portal against the DIN
- At least one eForm DIR-3-KYC must have been filed previously against the DIN
- No DIR-3 KYC (Web) filing should already be ‘Payment incomplete’, ‘Under processing’, or ‘Approved’ for the current financial year
- If DIN status is deactivated, filing is allowed only where the reason is ‘Non-filing of KYC in DIR-3 KYC’
- No webform DIR-6 should be pending approval against the DIN
- The DIN must have been allotted on or before 31st March of the previous financial year
- Mobile number and email OTPs must both be verified before submission
- No fee is applicable if filed before 30th September for a DIN allotted on or before 31st March and in ‘Approved’ status
Step-by-Step Filing Process
- Access MCA homepage and log in with valid credentials (or access via search bar)
- Select MCA Services → E-Filing → Company Forms Download → DIN related filings
- Access “Verify Director’s KYC Details (Form No. DIR-3 KYC (Web))”
- DIN is prefilled based on login ID
- Verify personal mobile number via OTP (valid for 2 hours; resend available after 1 minute)
- Verify personal email ID via OTP
- Once both OTPs are verified, the director’s master data (name, father’s name, nationality, DOB, PAN, Aadhaar, address, etc.) is displayed for confirmation
- Click Proceed to confirm the details are correct, or Cancel and file DIR-6 if any change is required
- Save the webform (optional, prior to submission)
- Submit the webform; SRN is generated
- Pay Fees only if applicable (deactivated DIN case) — else no payment step
- Acknowledgement is generated
Field-Level Notes
- All master-data fields (Director’s Name, Father’s Name, Nationality, Date of Birth, Gender, Income-tax PAN, Aadhaar, Voter’s ID, Passport, Driving Licence, Permanent and Present Address) are pre-filled from the DIN Master and are not editable in this webform
- If any of these require correction, Cancel this filing and file eForm DIR-3-KYC instead
- Personal mobile number and email ID are masked (only country code/last digits visible) and verified via separate OTPs
Attachments and Signing
DIR-3 KYC (Web) does not require any document attachment, DSC, or professional certification. Verification is done entirely through mobile and email OTP confirmation of the pre-filled master data.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1. What is the difference between DIR-3 KYC (Web) and eForm DIR-3-KYC? DIR-3 KYC (Web) only verifies existing KYC data via OTP and cannot be used to change any details. eForm DIR-3-KYC is used the first time, or whenever any detail (mobile, email, address, etc.) needs to be updated, and requires DSC and professional certification.
Q2. Is DSC required for DIR-3 KYC (Web)? No. Verification is done purely through mobile and email OTP; no DSC or attachments are needed.
Q3. What is the due date for filing? On or before 30th September of the financial year following the year in which the DIN was held as on 31st March.
Q4. What happens if KYC is not filed by the due date? The DIN is marked ‘Deactivated due to non-filing of KYC’, and a fee of ₹5,000 becomes payable to reactivate it through the applicable KYC filing.
Q5. Can DIR-3 KYC (Web) be used for a first-time DIN holder who has never filed KYC before? No — at least one prior eForm DIR-3-KYC filing against the DIN is a precondition for using the Web service.
